As part of an annual tradition, we spent the 4th of July at WA Pass. On a rest day, Justin and I hiked up to a great view of Black Peak. There was time to ink it in on that hike, but it was another month or so before I added color.

Hourly Comic Day 2017

W00t! For the second year in a row, I've succeeded in participating in Hourly Comic Day (this was my first attempt). I was more ambitious with color and lighting, so the painting ended up taking longer than I'd intended. These are super fun, but maaaaaan is it a lot of drawing for one day.

In my first attempt at a diorama, some of the detail of the watercolor was lost when the piece was backlit with LEDs. For this one I added aluminum duct tape to the opposite side of the background, and peeled it off in key areas to create a more specific lighting effect.

February 1st is the annual Hourly Comic Day, where cartoonists around the world draw a quick cartoon for every hour they're awake. Participating been on my to-do list for two years!
