Lost in a sea of underwear

I'm still working on monsters, but I got slightly side-tracked by this small project for a friend.

Robert snapped that last picture. The canvases are small — the square in the middle is 2.75x2.75 — but it takes me as long to finish one as it takes Robert to do a large, 24x30 painting. Very different styles.

Etching

Robert, my main squeeze, has been getting into various types of printing lately — first linoleum block, now etching. Inspired by his efforts, I decided to try turning this pen and ink drawing I did back in 2005 into a print. After a bit a trial and error with getting the finer lines to remain clean, we began pulling some moderately successful prints.

I'm looking forward to more etching experiments.

Monsters in Tighty Whities

I'm working on a new series of mini-canvases featuring monsters in tighty whities. Here is the first, which is near-complete but still needs a bit of touching up.

Mini-canvi

I recently purchased a bunch of teensy little mini-canvases from Utrecht as an impulse buy (they were right by the door!). And yesterday I finally picked up the paintbrush for the first time in over four years. Results below (penny for scale).

The essence of a gentleperson

I wanted to create a character that captured the character of the Century Ballroom without alluding to a specific dance style. These are three scratchboard sketches where I played with different types of styling. I really wish I'd made the cane point in towards the feet. /sigh/
