Self-portraits?

Many an art teacher has said amateurs tend to use their own features when doing portraits — it has something to do with what our mind is most familiar with, and a tendency to draw what we think is there rather than what we're actually looking at. I tend to draw very large noses. I'll just leave it at that.

Hallelujah, summer is here!

During a fabulous BBQ today (thanks for hosting, Alissa), I managed to sketch an overweight wanna-be superhero, bleeding ballerina, and flying dolphins. All of this scattered creativity inspired an actual sit-down inking. Results below. W00t!

Nom nom nom

The girls, they are here, and I am a cliché. There's still a fairly vocal part of my brain that says "Girl, you're going crazy right now! Come on, you're tough, you're strong! You're not swayed by any of this cutesy maternal crap!" and then I find myself telling my co-workers I'm available to show them the slide show if they're interested in baby pictures because ... well ... who wouldn't be? Right? (because I know you are ... )

Oh sheesh. Strong, independent, competent, feminist Rose is on vacation. She'll return after a few hours of screaming babies.

Tomorrow I become an auntie.
